Characters
Yusuke Uramushi
Yusuke is the 14-year-old "bully" and main character of Yu Yu Hakusho. He has a serious superiority complex at times and always wants to show that he's a rough, tough guy. Showing any emotion other than anger and rage seems like a weakness to him. Still, he does have a soft spot and is a good leader for his team.
Kuwabara
Kuwabara goes from being Yusuke's biggest enemy to his best friend. He aids him in his Spirit Quests and ends up having powers of his own. He is the weakest of the others, but he has the best quality heart and I think that's what makes him superior to most. He has simple needs and is very real. Of all the characters, he's the one you can watch and believe what you're seeing is actually happening.
Botan
Botan is Yusuke's spirit guide. She's always there to give him his assignments and help him as much as she can. She's very bubbly and smart and is mainly the link between Yusuke and Koenma. I love how dedicated she is to her job. She never falls in love or breaks any major rules. She works hard and that is her primary goal in life. That and keeping Yusuke in line. :P
Lord Koenma
Also known as King Enma Jr., he is the ruler of the Spirit Realm. He appointed Yusuke as Spirit Detective and is always heckling him to do THIS or THAT. He is one of the funniest characters whose always dragging along his slave/companion, Jorge (a demon). He is always on edge of his father who apparently has a really short fuse.
Kurama
Kurama is a Yokai who has the ability to control plants. He was reborn as a human and through that experience, grew a heart, so to speak. If it weren't for that, he would be considered one of the world's deadliest demons. Supposedly, his power is immense, greater even than Hiei's. He has a "dark" side, essentially the part of him that is pure demon while his red-headed self is human. This form is called Youko.
Hiei
Hiei is a Yokai who handles fire. Having a rough past, no one can really depend much on him because he's not always there. His mother was an Ice Maiden who was forced to abandon him for "interacting" with a fire demon. He resents her for this later in life, part of why he gets his Jagan implanted. He's got an attitude and his past changed him in a way that he won't ever really recover from, even by the end of the series.
